Brodies LLP has been awarded a gold ranking in the World Trademark Review’s list of leading trademark professionals for the fifth consecutive year.

World Trademark Review 1000 2018 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals (WTR1000), which lists the 1000 most influential intellectual property firms and individuals, describes Brodies as “a go-to for IP support in Scotland”  “and commends the firm’s IP team for protecting clients “in the most cost-effective and commercial way”

Brodies IP partners Gill Grassie and Robert Buchan, who both receive individual gold rankings for their expertise in enforcement and litigation in this year’s guide, are described as “two of the very best that Scotland has to offer”, and “exceptionally strong in terms of technical knowledge”, presenting advice in a way that is “client friendly and easy to understand.”

Grant Campbell, Head of Brodies’ Commercial Services Division, is ranked as a leading individual in the transactional IP category and receives specific praise for “brokering bespoke deals in which intellectual property and technology interface.”

WTR1000 is an independent ranking of “outstanding” firms and individuals in 60 countries based on a rigorous research process involving interviews with hundreds of clients and trademark specialists. Firms and individuals ranked in the gold band are, according to the magazine, “the crème de la crème”.

Ranked top tier in both the independent legal directories, Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, Brodies’ IP team has represented household names in some of the most high-profile disputes and commercial transactions over the past year. Clients included Krispy Kreme, the Scotch Whisky Association, BAE Systems, University of Edinburgh and DC Thomson.

Commenting on Brodies’ rankings in the new guide, Gill Grassie said: “It is with thanks to our clients that we have achieved a gold ranking from WTMR for the fifth year in a row. IP is an increasingly common area in which clients require legal services and we are proud to be able to provide relevant, high quality support and advice that helps them to protect and grow their businesses.”
