Lyes is a senior solicitor in the oil & gas team. He joined Brodies after spending nearly five years in-house working for a major international oil and gas engineering services contractor. He has experience of working on matters on the UKCS and internationally, including Angola, Egypt, Norway, Qatar and South Korea.
Lyes provides advice throughout all stages of the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on high value engineering contracts. He has assisted with the drafting, negotiation and subsequent award and management of contracts including EPIC, EPCC, Studies, Licensing, design and FEED contracts of varying value and complexity. He has extensive experience in providing supply chain advice and assistance, both in respect of ongoing contract management issues and the settlement of complex technical and commercial disputes.
Lyes has also provided advice in relation to overseas investment obligations in West Africa including matters such as local infrastructure development obligations, local content requirements and financial arrangements for repatriation of profits and reinvestment.
Lyes is qualified in Scots law and is a registered Notary Public.
