Brodies LLP has been awarded a gold ranking in the World Trademark Review's prestigious list of the world's 1,000 leading trademark professionals for the third consecutive year. For the first time Brodies is the only Scottish firm to be listed in the gold category.
World Trademark Review 1000 2016 - The World's Leading Trademark Professionals (WTR1000) describes Brodies as a "commercial powerhouse" in which a "thriving trademark litigation and enforcement practice is the jewel in the crown". Brodies' IP team is commended as a "tenacious set" that has been "firing on all cylinders lately, demonstrating a flair for finding expedient, commercial attractive resolutions to complex conflicts".
Brodies IP partner Gill Grassie is elevated to a gold ranking for her expertise in enforcement and litigation in this year's guide. Described as "the star of the show", she is commended as a "technically excellent lawyer" and an "incredibly reliable partner" who is "thorough and leaves no stone unturned" and "cuts to the chase". "She identifies problems or issues others can't see and, crucially, solves them, too. Life becomes easier for everyone, due to her vast experience," the guide adds.
Fellow Brodies IP partner Robert Buchan, who is awarded a silver individual ranking in the enforcement and litigation category, is commended as "super responsive" and "clever, commercial and fun to work with". Grant Campbell, Head of Brodies' Commercial Services Division, is ranked as a leading individual in the transactional IP category and described as "a seasoned commercial contracts lawyer with a sparkling deal record".
WTR 1000 is an independent ranking of "outstanding" firms and individuals in 60 countries based on a rigorous research process involving interviews with hundreds of clients and trademark specialists. Firms and individuals ranked in the gold band are, according to the magazine, "the crème de la crème".
Ranked top tier in both the legal independent legal directories, Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, Brodies' IP team has represented household names in some of the most high-profile disputes and commercial transactions over the past year. Clients included Krispy Kreme, Tripadvisor, Facebook Inc, SQA, PRS for Music, the Scotch Whisky Association, DC Thompson and Oil States International Inc.
Commenting on Brodies' rankings in the new guide, Gill said: "We are delighted to have been singled out by WTMR as the premier IP - Trade Mark firm in Scotland and would like thank all our clients for their support in achieving this prestigious, independent recognition. We will continue to strive to support our clients overcome the challenges they face in an increasingly competitive global environment, where all forms of IP can give them the cutting edge they need to secure their future growth and success."
