Brodies LLP was last night named UK Regional Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer Awards in London, with judges praising Scotland's largest law firm for its "confidence and vision.

The panel of judges singled out Brodies for its strong strategic management and sustained financial growth, adding that it is "a firm that has taken charge of its own destiny and projects confidence and vision for its people and clients.

The judges said: "Brodies has strong values and has pushed itself further than any other firm in Scotland. The winning formula was clear - to prove innovation in client delivery and development across all practice areas, as well as a strategy that focuses on developing the firm's core strength.

During the year in review, Brodies achieved more top tier practice areas and 'leading individual' lawyer rankings in the independent legal directories than any other firm in Scotland, opened a new office in Glasgow and marked the successful completion of the first year of its 2014/17 strategic plan with an 11.2% increase in turnover to £57.9 million, marking the firm's fifth consecutive year of revenue and profit growth.

The winning firms and individuals were chosen following a rigorous research process involving The Lawyer, one of the legal industry's leading publications, and a judging panel comprising leading figures from the legal profession, ranging from general counsel at public and private companies to senior private practice lawyers and silks.

This year the judging panel was widened to include several managing partners from international firms, including firms based in the US, China, Germany and Ireland.

Bill Drummond, Managing Partner of Brodies, said: "We are pleased to have received this accolade, which reflects the commitment of all at our firm and the continued support of clients in Scotland, the rest of the UK and overseas. We have worked hard over many years to ensure that we develop and deliver relevant legal services of the highest quality to clients. Our sustained growth as a firm and our willingness to adapt to clients' ever-changing needs means that we are able to respond rapidly when they need us. This has never been more important than in the wake of last week's referendum and our commitment to going above and beyond on their behalf is resolute.
