Brodies partner Gill Grassie has been named an 'IP Star' and ranked among the Top 250 Women in IP for 2016/17 in a global survey by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) IP STARS and Women in IP Global Network.
Gill, a partner in the firm's IP, technology & outsourcing team, is the only woman in Scotland to have achieved the recognition, which follows six months of rigorous independent research which canvassed the views of law firms, IP agencies and clients.
In addition to Gill's recognition as one of the world's leading IP specialists, Brodies has also been ranked as a Tier 1 firm for its IP work in the contentious patent and trademark arena and for copyright. Earlier this year, Brodies was named the MIP Scotland IP Firm of the Year 2016 for the third consecutive year.
Managing Intellectual Property magazine has been researching and ranking IP firms since 1996. A well respected publisher in the IP industry, MIP's guide is considered to be the most authoritative and comprehensive in its field.
The research for IP Stars (formerly the World IP Survey) covers more than 70 jurisdictions, including those most active for IP protection, exploitation and enforcement. The publication's researchers scrutinise the information and conduct their own independent research before producing the firm ranking tables and list of leading IP practitioners.
The IP STARS list of the Top 250 Women in IP is the definitive guide to the world's leading female IP practitioners. Previously restricted to leading female IP practitioners in the US, this year's edition has for the first time been expanded to cover IP specialists across the globe.
The latest recognition follows the announcement in January that Brodies was the only Scottish-based firm to achieve a gold ranking in the World Trademark Review's prestigious list of the world's 1,000 leading trademark professionals. Gill also received an individual gold ranking for her expertise in enforcement and litigation, while Brodies' Robert Buchan was awarded a silver ranking and Grant Campbell was listed as a leading individual.
The complete IP Stars, and 250 Women in IP list, is published in the IP Stars Handbooks, Managing IP and at IPStars.com.
