Tony Jones KC, of UK and leading Scottish firm Brodies LLP, has been called to the bar in a ceremony conducted at the Middle Temple on the 28 July 2022. Already a King's Counsel solicitor advocate with rights of audience in Scotland, as a barrister he will now have sufficient rights to represent clients in all courts in England and Wales.

Tony is the only KC in Scotland to be accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as an expert in both Professional Negligence Law and Construction Law. He frequently represents clients in property, professional negligence, construction, corporate and contact disputes.

This milestone follows Brodies' senior associate, Fiona McLeod and associate, David Ford being introduced to court as solicitor advocates at The Court of Session, Edinburgh on 6th July this year.

Commenting on the achievements, Tony Jones KC said: "I am delighted to have been called to the bar in England and Wales and, along with David and Fiona's qualifying as solicitor advocates, our clients will benefit from our continued commitment towards providing market-leading litigation and advocacy practices.

"We provide a full service for our clients across the UK, from instigation to final determination or resolution, which is relevant to individuals, businesses and the public sector, giving our clients a wider choice of representation across the jurisdictions".

David Ford has been involved in many significant cases in recent years. He has particular expertise in land and property disputes, with an emphasis on disputes between commercial landlords and tenants. He also regularly acts for landowners and property developers.

As the only solicitor invited to participate on the Scottish Government Working Group on improving housing outcomes for women and children experiencing domestic abuse, Fiona McLeod's role of solicitor advocate will also complement the firm's existing expertise in housing and social care.

Speaking about her new rights of audience, Fiona McLeod said: "As a litigator in the Sheriff Court, I have always been eager to develop my advocacy skills and obtain higher rights of audience to appear in the Supreme Courts. Since joining Brodies in 2019, I have been impressed with the in-house advocacy offering and I am delighted to now join Advocacy by Brodies and look forward to working with colleagues, providing a full service offering to clients.
