The HSE has completed the first week of its construction site clampdown across the UK. While we won’t know the figures until next month, judging by the HSE’s initiative earlier in March this year, HSE Inspectors will have conducted up to 1,000 unannounced visits to construction sites across the country by now.
The statistics from March’s initiative revealed that around one fifth of all inspections resulted in enforcement action. That means that around 200 construction firms can expect to receive a Fee For Intervention over the course of the next few months.
Tip: If your site is subject to an unannounced visit from an Inspector, keep a written record of the visit (including how long it lasts) and capture the details of any alleged contravention.
