Those who thought the decision to ban conkers from playing fields was over the top will not be pleased to read about the decision to ban the triangular flapjack. The BBC reports that caterers at Castle View School in Canvey Island, Essex, have been told to cut their flapjacks into squares or rectangles. This follows an “isolated accident” involving the injury of a seven year old boy which led to a review of “the texture and shape of the flapjacks” served to students.
If we start risk assessing the sharpness of our confectionery, I fear for the continued presence of Toblerones in airports!
This will surely make the HSE’s “myth busters” page.
