The Health and Safety Executive has released the latest figures on workplace fatalities in Scotland and the UK.
The good news for Scottish businesses is that workplace fatalities are down from 22 in the previous year to 15 in 2010/11. Aberdeen suffered the most fatalities during the period with 4 recorded.
Unfortunately, the picture across the UK is not so promising. Fatalities rose to 171 in 2010/11 compared to 147 in the previous year. Almost 50% of all workplace deaths in the UK over the last year occurred in the higher risk industries of construction and agriculture.
Here’s to a safe and healthy 2012!
