Susanne and I were delighted to give a presentation at the Alzheimer’s Research UK Planning for the Future Seminar in Edinburgh on Saturday, along with Dr Jill Fowler from the University of Edinburgh. It was great to hear about Dr Fowler’s fantastic research on this important area for solicitors and families alike.
Dementia affects people from all walks of life. You never know what is around the corner, so it is never too early to start planning ahead. Having both had personal experience of dementia in our own families, Susanne and I know all too well how difficult it can be for sufferers and their families to deal with.
Getting a power of attorney in place early can offer some peace of mind at an otherwise stressful and upsetting time. If you, or someone you care about, are affected by dementia then do not hesitate to get in touch with us to discuss the options which are available.
Today also marks the start of Dementia Awareness Week 2018 in Scotland. Stay tuned to our blog for updates from the team here about what we are up to. We’ll be blogging each day and Nicola Neal, Gillian Wilson and Lauren Baillie will be covering everything from what we’re doing to raise awareness; to the pros and cons of powers of attorney and guardianship orders; to the Scottish government consultation on guardianships.
