What better way to mark International Right to Know Day 2011 than for the Scottish Information Commissioner to launch new web resources for Scottish public authorities as an aid for authorities to assess and improve their FOI practice. The Commissioner has a duty to promote good practice amongst Scottish public authorities in the provision of information and these new resources highlight his commitment to that.
The new resources provide self-help tools to allow authorities to improve their FOI practice and to read about the experiences of other authorities. As well as marking International Right to Know Day 2011, this also marks a move towards a more open and transparent relationship between authorities and the Commissioner’s Office particularly given the new web pages which set out what a public authority can expect from a practice assessment visit from the Commissioner’s Assessment Team.
