Our business services practice area comprises seven distinct teams: finance, innovation and technology, business development and marketing, office management, people engagement, management and knowledge library.
Each has a clear objective in terms of the contribution they make to the firm. From responsibility for the financial stewardship of the firm, developing new products, and bringing our brand to life, to ensuring our colleagues feel proud to work for our firm, running our state-of-the-art offices or directly supporting our legal teams, our business services colleagues are at the heart of everything we do.
As our managing partner I recognise that every single colleague in our firm contributes to the delivery of client work and the delivery of our firm's business plans. It is why we design our offices without hierarchy. It is why we use language which values the contributions of every one of our colleagues. It is why in our strategic planning exercises we call for plans which see our business services teams take their turn driving the bus just as do our legal practice areas. And it is why in those plans we follow NASA's approach to allocating tasks and responsibility – give them to the person best placed to deliver them.
