Tell us about your role

The PDL role is a wide-ranging one, which makes it endlessly interesting and challenging. A key part of my role is awareness and training - making sure everyone in the team has access to and is aware of all the latest developments which affect their practice and providing training on key areas. Client awareness is also a significant part of my role; making sure we communicate clearly to clients about new law and practice, and I deliver training to clients on topics such as corporate governance. The role also involves keeping up with new technology – at the moment, I am looking at how Corporate can use Jylo to best effect. It’s an ever-changing role.

What interesting projects have you worked on?

For the past couple of years, a huge part of my role has been tracking the progress of the recent economic crime legislation - the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022 and the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 – through Parliament and its implementation. Then, providing detailed updates to and training the team, colleagues across the firm and clients on the resulting changes to law and the implications for our clients and our own practice. This was a collaborative project with colleagues in BD, Comms and Marketing.

Apart from the necessary skills and knowledge, what other quality is essential for the role you perform?

A genuine interest in the law and the way it develops and is applied.
