Why did you choose to become a Real Estate lawyer?

For me, real estate offered the perfect balance between commercial and technical skills. I focus on finding commercial solutions to get deals done for our clients but there are still plenty of opportunities to dig out the textbooks to resolve the legal issues too. Every day is different and there's also a huge sense of satisfaction seeing the deals that you've worked on taking shape on the ground.

Which of Brodies' five values resonates with you most and how do you incorporate it into your daily role?

Care. Caring about what I do and who I work with is key priority for me. Every day I try to make a positive contribution to our firm, our colleagues and our clients. As chair of the pride network, I'm working with colleagues across our firm to make a real difference by championing inclusion and diversity.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy most, and why?

Working with others. Meeting new people and building and developing new relationships is something that I really enjoy. We deliver the best results when we work collaboratively and the individual personalities and characters of the people that I work with help to bring a lot of fun and enjoyment to each day.

Apart from the necessary skills and knowledge, what other quality is essential for the role you perform? 

Being adaptable. Every colleague and client is different and being able to adapt the way that you communicate with and work with others helps to build trusting relationships and helps everyone to perform at their best.
