Brodies acted as sole external legal adviser to Japex E&P UK Limited in relation to all legal issues relating to the development of the Seagull discovery, including strategic and regulatory advice. We negotiated and drafted multiple project documents including:- Construction and Tie-in Agreement and Transportation and Processing Agreement with ETAP and Transportation and Processing Agreements with Forties Pipeline System, GAEL System and CATS. After complex negotiations were concluded the Seagull joint venture (Japex, BP and Neptune (Operator)) submitted a Field Development Plan to the regulator – the Oil & Gas Authority – which was approved at the end of March. This development is important to Japex because it is its first UKCS development. It also received the Oil & Gas UK MER UK award, which recognises innovative and sustainable ways to maximise economic recovery from the UKCS.
