Brodies advises Wickman Hotels on acquisition of Kinloch Lodge Hotel

The acquisition expands Wickman Hotels' presence in the Scottish hospitality sector and adds a landmark luxury hotel to its existing portfolio of Isle of Skye hospitality assets, which includes the Cuillin Hills Hotel in Portree and the Flodigarry Hotel in Trotternish. The transaction further strengthens its position within the premium destination hotel market.

The 18-bedroom hotel in Loch na Dal has been in the Macdonald family since the 16th century. It became a shooting lodge in the early 19th century, and was converted into a hotel in 1972 by Godfrey and Claire Macdonald. Their daughter, Isabella Macdonald, took over the day-to-day running of the hotel in 2010.

Brodies advised on all aspects of the share acquisition, including transaction structuring, legal due diligence, preparation and negotiation of transaction documents, Scots law real estate matters, acquisition financing arrangements, employment and pensions issues, and the review of key commercial contracts associated with the hotel business.
