The charity "Avenue", offers free Parenting Apart information sessions (lasting 3 hours) to parents in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray who are separating or considering separation, whether or not they are married.

Avenue has recently confirmed the session dates in Aberdeen until the end of June 2017.

Booking is essential and places are filled quickly on a first come first served basis. For details of the sessions and how to book, contact Avenue here or on on 01224 587571.

Free Parenting Apart information sessions have been available to parents in Scotland since 2015. Funding from the Scottish Government has allowed the sessions to be offered across Scotland by 11 Relationships Scotland Member Services including Avenue.

See Relationships Scotland for information about the services available in other areas of Scotland.

The family law team at Brodies supports and encourages the use of Parenting Apart sessions for many clients who are separating or divorcing.

We recognize that it is usually in the best interests of the children for matters connected to their welfare and upbringing to be resolved by their parents by agreement.

Parenting Apart sessions are intended to help parents learn how they and their children can move forward positively, how to manage the transition to living in separate homes, and what their children need from each parent after separation.

This can reduce stress for the children and for the parents themselves. This can, in turn, assist in resolving any financial or property issues which arise from the separation or divorce.
