A vastly experienced solicitor Shaun has practised family law for more than 25 years and heads the Family team at Brodies.
Shaun advises on all aspects of Family Law but has particular expertise in high value financial provision on divorce cases, often involving assets held overseas.
A leading proponent of Collaborative Practice, Shaun regularly deals with Collaborative family law cases. He sits on the National Committee of Consensus Collaboration Scotland and has been involved in the setting up of a European Collaborative Practice group. Shaun is also a qualified Family Law Arbitrator and has presented on various family law topics nationally and internationally.
Donna has a warm and approachable personality. She is regularly described by clients as being “patient”. She practices in all areas of family law but has a particular interest in cases involving children.
Donna is a qualified collaborative family lawyer and is also accredited as a family law mediator. She often helps clients reach solutions using this model of dispute resolution. That being said, if needs be, she is an efficient litigator. Donna is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Family Law.
Outside work, Donna enjoys spending time with her little boy, husband and friends.
Lydia is a bright, confident and committed family lawyer in Aberdeen. Her clients appreciate her pragmatic approach, her knowledge and understanding of the law, and her desire to secure positive outcomes for them, whether in financial or child related matters.
Born in the Western Isles, Lydia was brought up on the East coast of Scotland. She studied law and French law at Aberdeen University and Lyon University but after graduating was resistant to an office job and joined what was then Grampian Police.
She worked with Grampian Police for over five years after graduating from the University of Aberdeen with Honours. Lydia describes her time in Peterhead as a Police Officer as eye-opening and challenging and maintains that it prepared her well for her current post.
Like the rest of the Family Law Team, she aims to resolve the majority of her cases by negotiation. Skilled in negotiation, Lydia is also a qualified collaborative family lawyer and is accredited as a family law mediator. She is equally adept in handling contentious, litigated matters and frequently appears in Courts all over Scotland.
Susie joined the team as a Trainee Solicitor in 2009 having completed degrees in English and Law at the Universities of Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
Susie has a friendly and approachable personality and enjoys all aspects of Family Law.
Having worked closely with Shaun George both during her traineeship and subsequently, she has gained exposure to a broad case-load.
She particularly enjoys dealing with complex high-value financial cases and child relocations, both of which crop up frequently in cosmopolitan Aberdeen.
Rachael graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2011. She worked at Aberdeen Sheriff Court gaining experience in Civil Law before beginning her traineeship in April 2013.
She has gained exposure to a wide range of family law issues and runs her own caseload. She became a fully qualified Solicitor in April 2015.
As one of the first points of contact a client may have with the firm, Jennifer endeavours to make that initial step, in what is usually a very difficult time, just that little bit easier.
With over 30 years’ experience in the legal profession, Jennifer has worked in a variety of disciplines including debt recovery for several years before starting as Executive Assistant to Shaun George in 2007.
A graduate of Aberdeen University and with a degree in Psychology and English Literature, Jennifer went on to obtain the Specialist Family Law Paralegal Qualification in 2008.
Professional, proactive, responsible and dedicated she admits always to have been fascinated by the law and considers it to be more of a vocation than just a job.
Married with two daughters away from the office Jennifer finds keeping fit and singing an ideal way to relax.
Stacey successfully completed a HND in Legal Services at Aberdeen College before taking up the role of legal secretary within the family team at Simpson & Marwick in 2012. Prior to this Stacey worked as a clerical officer for Grampian Police (as it was known at the time) for 4 years. Stacey moved with the rest of the family team to Brodies in June 2015. Stacey works on a Tuesday and Wednesday.
Stacey spends her spare time running around after her young twins.
Ainsleigh has worked with Shaun and the team since January 2010. Prior to this Ainsleigh worked at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in both the criminal and civil departments. She qualified as a paralegal in 2012. Since becoming a mum, Ainsleigh works part time on a Monday, Thursday and Friday 10am -5pm.
Scott is one of Scotland’s leading family lawyers and is identified as a ranked individual for family law by Chambers & Partners. Scott is known for his work with cases involving complex financial issues or where there is an international element. He also advises on the arrangements for residence of and contact with children. Nicola has specialised in Family Law since 2008, and was accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in the area in 2016. She advises clients on a broad range of family law issues including separation, divorce, cohabitants’ rights, pre-nuptial agreements and child related issues such as residence and contact disputes, adoptions and the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
Nicola has a particular interest in financial provision on divorce cases and has successfully negotiated many favourable financial settlements for clients. In cases where recourse to court is necessary, she has experience of dealing with cases both in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court.

Nicola is trained in Collaborative practice and is a member of Consensus. She is also a member of the Family Law Association for Scotland, and previously sat on the Association’s Committee for a period of three years. Nicola has also tutored in Family Law at Edinburgh University.

Laura started her legal career in 2006. She joined Brodies in 2011 and obtained her Specialist Family Law Paralegal Qualification in 2014.
Laura is an enthusiastic and motivated member of the team with in-depth knowledge of Court of Session and Sheriff Court legislation and procedures relating to family law and various areas of litigation.
