International Child Abduction

Because there’s more to kids than custody.

International child abduction

The impact of child abduction and left behind parents can be traumatic.

International child abduction law provides in most cases for the speedy return of children to the country where they lived before their abduction.

Child abduction law applies to countries which are signatories to the Hague Child Abduction Convention.

Only in rare cases will children not be returned – but there are protections in place to prevent children being returned if doing so would place them at grave risk of harm or in intolerable circumstances.

Our international child abduction law experts Family Law have Team has extensive experience of dealing with international child abduction, both in securing the return of internationally abducted children who have been brought here in breach of the Hague Convention and also in defending applications for return by parents who fear their child will be placed at grave risk if they are sent back to the country of their residence.
