Brodies Academy for HR Professionals - HR's role in dealing with Employment Tribunal claims

Our first Brodies Academy for HR Professionals seminar of 2025 we will explore HR's role in dealing with Employment Tribunal claims.

Employment Tribunal claim numbers are on the rise and a further increase in claim volumes is anticipated because of changes provided for in the Employment Rights Bill. It is therefore more important than ever that HR professionals understand what is involved in defending Tribunal claims and the important role they play in dealing with them.

From the moment ACAS get in touch to tell you about a possible claim through to appearing as a witness in the Employment Tribunal, members from our employment & immigration team will be exploring the critical role HR teams play in dealing with Tribunal claims.

Attendees at this event will automatically secure a space at our mock Employment Tribunal event running later in the year, where members of our employment & immigration team will litigate the same hypothetical case study we looked at during the Academy sessions giving attendees  the opportunity to see an Employment Tribunal claim being handled from start to finish.

Our Academy for HR Professionals is an in-depth, half day programme. It is designed to be highly interactive and will be delivered using case studies, worked examples and group exercises to ensure attendees get the most out of the day. Breakfast will be served along with refreshments during the networking break.

The Academy is open to professionals who are new to HR, in the early stages of their career or returning to HR following a period of family leave or a career break, and those who are experienced in a particular aspect of HR and are now in an expanded role. Experienced HR professionals who would like to attend by way of a refresher are also  welcome.

• In this session we will cover:
  • ACAS early conciliation
  • introduction to the Employment Tribunal; and
  • what to do when an Employment Tribunal claim lands
• 11:00 - 11:30 Networking break and refreshments
• 11:30 - 13:15 Session 2
• In this session we will cover:
  • preparing the case for a final hearing
  • understanding the Tribunal's judgment; and 
  • settlement agreements
