The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 gained Royal Assent in January 2024 with most provisions due to come into force on 16th July 2024. So, what does its enactment mean for local government practitioners, and looked after children, in Scotland?

In this webinar we will consider:

  • a general overview of permanence proceedings in Scotland including authority to adopt;
  • how to revoke or vary a permanence order once granted; and
  • some recent case law involving the rights of looked after children in the context of sibling contact and the provision of accommodation for young adults.
