The UK's post-Brexit subsidy control regime has been in force for 18 months, and the transition has been gradual for most public bodies and particularly those that have been relying on so-called "legacy" arrangements that were in place before the Subsidy Control Act came into force. As many of those legacy arrangements begin to come to an end, and public bodies increasingly come into contact with the new rulebook, what lessons should public bodies take from the first 18 months of the Act?

In this webinar, Charles Livingstone and Jamie Dunne will look at:

  • when subsidies arise and when they don't;
  • applying the subsidy control principles and lessons from Subsidy Advice Unit reports on referred subsidies;
  • the "commercial market operator" rule and lessons on how and when to use it; and
  • giving support as minimal financial assistance.
