Arbitration is the private judging or decision making of an issue which needs to be determined.

A family law arbitrator is effectively a private judge, qualified to make legally binding decisions. Arbitration is a quicker and more cost-effective way for a decision to be made about something which cannot otherwise be agreed.

The biggest advantage is that arbitration is entirely confidential. For clients, confidentiality and keeping issues about their family life private is a major factor.

Arbitration is also incredibly agile – it can be used to decide discrete issues such as who should pay for school fees or whether an existing maintenance arrangement should be varied.

We ensure that our clients know all the ways in which to resolve matters in the most productive way possible. Arbitration always features as part of that discussion. Amongst our team, we have family lawyers trained in how arbitration works and can give guidance to clients on all ways of resolving matters.
