As the courts settle into the remote way of working, the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) has issued updated guidance as to the current practices and procedures of the civil courts. We thought it would be helpful to provide a similar update highlighting the key aspects of the remote court system, which will likely continue until at least 31 March 2022, or for as long as the Scottish Government extends the relevant parts of the coronavirus laws which affect how we work. The Scottish Civil Justice Council has recently launched a consultation on the mode of attendance at civil court hearings, along with a draft set of rules, which, if implemented, will likely mean that the virtual court is indeed here to stay in some form or another.
