New regulations have been published which relate to the hospitality sector.
The Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions and Requirements) (Additional Temporary Measures) (Scotland) Regulations 2020
The Scottish Government announced further temporary measures affecting the hospitality sector on 7 October. The measures came into effect at 18:00 on Friday 9 October and exist initially until Sunday 25 October 2020.
The measures are divided, with stricter restrictions in place across Scotland's Central Belt.
Central Belt comprising five Health Board areas (Ayrshire & Arran; Forth Valley; Greater Glasgow & Clyde; Lanarkshire; Lothian):
- Licensed premises are required to close, takeaway service can continue.
- Cafés (licensed and unlicensed) will be able to open between 6am and 6pm, with no alcohol sales.
A café is defined as "an establishment whose primary business activity, in the ordinary course of its business, is the sale of non-alcoholic drinks, snacks or light meals, which may be consumed on the premises"
- Takeaways (including from pubs and restaurants) can continue.
- Food and drink may be served in hotels for residents only as part of room service or between the hours of 06:00 and 22:00 (without alcohol) for consumption in any other part of the hotel.
- Specific life events, such as weddings and funerals, may continue with alcohol, with current meeting rules for these events (20 persons limit in regulated premises only).
- Snooker/pool halls, indoor bowling, casinos and bingo halls and various other indoor entertainment venues are to close.
- Current meeting rules, maximum of six people from two households, continue to apply.
Nationwide (except Central Belt areas):
- Pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes may only open indoors between 6am and 6pm, with no sales of alcohol.
- Pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes may open outdoors until 10pm, with sales of alcohol (where licensed).
- Takeaways (including from pubs and restaurants) can continue.
- Food and drink may be served in hotels for residents only as part of room service or between the hours of 06:00 and 22:00 (without alcohol) for consumption in any other part of the hotel.
- Current meeting rules, maximum of six people from two households, continue to apply.
- Specific life events, such as weddings and funerals, may continue with alcohol being served, with current meeting rules for these events (20 persons limit in regulated premises only).
