Certain types of Scottish court claim can become time-barred if they are not served on the potential defender within a prescribed time frame. But what if the party you want to sue is based outside Scotland? How do you effect service, and does it take longer now that the UK is no longer in the EU?

In this session, Fiona Chute and Laura Townsend provided a reminder of the time limits for the most common types of civil court claim, and explained why it is now necessary to allow extra time to serve proceedings in EU countries in order to "stop the clock".
