This comprehensive session, chaired by Elaine Farquharson-Black, explored how sports organisations can implement effective sustainability practices, from grassroots initiatives in the local community to international events on a global scale.

Our expert panel discussed sustainability on a local, national, and international level with commentary from Tokyo 2020 para athlete Melanie Woods, energy and construction expert Steve Petrie from Centrica, and sport sustainability expert Libi Newell from The R&A.

The panel will discuss:

  • local level: strategies for sustainable grassroots sports events and community engagement;
  • national level: best practice for implementing sustainability in sports organisations and national governing bodies; and
  • international level: insight from global sporting events and international federations on large-scale sustainability efforts.
