Trade unions continue to be extremely active across all sectors of the economy but especially the offshore energy sector. During this session members of our Employment & Immigration team provided a timely reminder of the key legislative provisions relating to trade union recognition and industrial action as well as practical tips for dealing with: (i) an application for trade union recognition; and (ii) notification of a ballot for industrial action.
In this session we covered:
- the key legislation provisions relating to trade union recognition and industrial action;
- recent developments in the legislation including around the use of agency workers and also the potential for new legislation which would enable the Secretary of State to make minimum service regulations for strikes in relevant services; and
- practical tips for dealing with an application for: (i) trade union recognition; and (ii) notification of a ballot for industrial action
