I'm delighted to announce that Brodies is principal sponsor of the launch of a new oil & gas industry resource, 'Encompassing the Future: Offshore Oil and Gas Operations', which has been compiled by the International Centre for Oil and the Environment (ICOE).

The ICOE has brought together academia, industry and regulators to build a knowledge repository that has pooled over 40 years of inter-disciplinary knowledge and experience in key areas impacting the industry. It will be fundamental to the sustainable future of the North Sea, as well as promoting the expertise from the UKCS to other basins around the world, and will help future leaders deal with the issues facing the industry.

It has been a challenging time for the sector and this resource demonstrates the importance of working collaboratively to share knowledge and create a sustainable future for the industry. We're working closely with clients on a number of the key themes highlighted in the resource, particularly around decommissioning, and it will provide valuable insight on extending the life and commercialisation of the UKCS.

I am attending the launch which is taking place on Thursday 3 August at the University of Aberdeen's Kings College Conference Centre. We are anticipating 150 -200 attendees, who will hear insights from senior industry figures including Sir Ian Diamond, Paul Warwick, Colette Cohen, Gunther Newcomb, Chris Bird and Professor Alex Kemp.

If you have any queries regarding the knowledge resource or the launch, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Bill Cairns at the ICOE at wjcairns@icoe-research.com
