My previous blog mentioned proposals for simplified planning zone pilot projects.

The Scottish Ministers have announced that they are giving grant support totalling around £90,000 to three planning authorities to bring forward SPZs for housing: Argyll and Bute, Dumfries and Galloway, and North Ayrshire.

The pilot projects will explore different uses of SPZs for housing in different settings and will support innovative housing delivery including self- and custom-build.

The Scottish Government will work with the pilot partners to inform what changes, legislative and non-legislative, might be required to better enable the use of an SPZ-style approach to support housing delivery. This approach is mentioned in the consultation paper Places People and Planning.
