Apologies to our avid readers - the blog's been a bit quiet over the last few months as we've tried to get to grips with all of the new legislation coming out of the Scottish Parliament on top of everything else on our desks!
Now that we've had achance to draw breath andreflect on their terms,we will be gracing your screens with more detailshortly but in the meantime, just so you know it hasn't escaped our notice, this post records the coming into force of two of the most important pieces of legislation for the rural sector in recent years, the Land Reform (Scotland)Act 2016 and thePrivate Housing (Tenancies) (Scotland) Act 2016.
The Acts were bothpassed by the Scottish Parliament on consecutive days of March 2016 and have now both received Royal Assent, on 22 April 2016, meaning initial provisions are now in force.
For both Acts, Royal Assent only brings into force very small, administrativesections of the Acts. Itcould be a while before the meatier provisions come into play,as these will be brought into force by secondary legislation, known as Commencement Orders.
Many provisions also needsome fairly substantial fleshing out by way of Regulations,so we will keep you updated as and when we know what is happening with all of those.
