What made you choose an apprenticeship at a law firm?
I had an interest in law, but didn't think the law degree was right for me at that time. The apprenticeship provided the right balance – the opportunity to learn in a legal setting, and earn at the same time.
What skills have you developed through your apprenticeship?
First and foremost, confidence . Other skills include communication, team-working, commercial awareness, perseverance and motivation - all of which are beneficial to my law degree and my future career.
What difference have you seen in yourself as a result of your apprenticeship?
Within my first year at Brodies, my confidence grew massively - and continues to grow. This has a positive effect on how I communicate, make decisions and work within a team.
What advice would you give to someone considering the apprenticeship route?
I would say go for it – you never know where you might end up! If someone had told me six years ago that I’d be six months away from completing a law degree… I never would have believed them!
