Young swimmers set for Glasgow

Over 500 youngsters from 37 schools will be in action at Brodies Scottish Schools’ Relay Championships at Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow tomorrow (Wednesday, 17 June).

Scott McLay (Strathallan School), the British 50m freestyle Age-Group Champion, will be one of the fast rising Scots competing in the end of season event.

Archie Goodburn (Stewart’s Melville), Anna Fleming (High School of Glasgow) and Finlay Davidson (Cults Academy) will also be aiming to steer their schools to victory.

They all starred at the Brodies individual Championships at Aberdeen Sports Village at the end of January.

The Relay Championships are a typical end of summer term sporting extravaganza for Scotland’s pupils. It is a chance to come together and compete in a team event for the school.

Stephen Milne has experienced glory in former Brodies Schools’ Championships – and the fast rising star of Scottish and British swimming will be in attendance at Tollcross to lend support and hand out the medals.

Milne is a former competitor, winning titles for Perth Academy. In August, Milne will be making his debut in the World Championships in Russia – hopefully it will be a stepping stone to representing Team GB in next year’s Olympic Games in Rio.
