Jamie is a Solicitor Advocate and has a right to appear in every civil court in Scotland and the United Kingdom Supreme Court. He is an experienced litigator having specialised in dispute resolution throughout his legal career. Jamie specialises in private wealth and commercial disputes.
Jamie's practice focuses on private wealth disputes. He helps guide clients through all kinds of trust and executry disputes. Jamie is regularly instructed to pursue and defend actions to challenge wills, challenge the actions of executors and trustees, and contentious confirmation (probate) applications. As an Affiliate Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a member of the Contentious Trusts Association (ConTrA), Jamie regularly delivers training to charity clients and to other solicitors in this field.
In the commercial sphere, Jamie regularly represents and advises clients in a wide variety of matters including debt recovery, insolvency and professional negligence. He regularly advises on the obtaining of urgent and emergency court orders, protective measures and the enforcement of Scottish and foreign court orders. Jamie is instructed by clients and colleagues to conduct advocacy in the Supreme Courts, appearing regularly in Scotland's highest civil court, the Court of Session.
As well as litigation, Jamie guides and represents clients through different forms of alternative dispute resolution. Jamie has acted in a number of local and international arbitrations, appeals of arbitral awards to the Court of Session and the enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in Scotland.
Jamie shares his knowledge and experience by regularly delivering advocacy training to our solicitor advocate team and to our more junior colleagues who aspire to appearing in the Supreme Courts.
