Brodies Housebuilding Conference 2020

The housebuilding sector is facing a combination of current challenges – changing demographics and lifestyles; economic uncertainties; planning reforms; and of course, the climate change emergency. The industry is being tasked with building more homes faster, cheaper and in a more sustainable way.

At Brodies' biennial housebuilding conference we will discuss how housebuilding in Scotland needs to adapt and respond to changes in technology, economy, policy and law. We are delighted to confirm that our Keynote Speaker will be Aileen Campbell, Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Housing, who will outline the Scottish Government's vision for Housing to 2040.

Our other speakers and panellists will provide their thoughts and ideas for the housebuilding industry in Scotland, including highlighting innovations which are being used to make smarter and more sustainable homes; ways of overcoming common access and services issues; and how the planning process adapts to change.

This is a must attend event for housebuilders and stakeholders in the housebuilding sector in Scotland.

Speakers and panellists at the event will include:

  • Aileen Campbell, Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Local Government
  • William Dowson, Bank of England’s Agent for Scotland
  • Fionna Kell, Director of Policy, Homes for Scotland
  • Roddy Paisley, Professor of Scots Law, University of Aberdeen
  • Gareth James, UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE)
  • Michaela Sullivan, Group Land Manager, CALA.
  • David Leslie, Chief Planning Officer, City of Edinburgh Council.
  • Pol Macdonald, Director OPEN (Optimised Environments)
