Brodies is delighted to announce the launch of our Local Government Academy. A new series of free seminars aimed at those new to local government or who are returning after a period away from practice.

This training and networking initiative provides an opportunity for local government professionals to extend their depth of knowledge, breadth of skills, and range of contacts, from the very start of their careers.

In order to meet the needs of local communities and deliver best value, local authorities are increasingly working in partnership with other public bodies.

This session will look at the statutory basis for partnership working. We will outline the development of Community Planning under the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 and the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.

We will also consider where community planning fits within the relationship between national and local government, and local authorities’ commitment to single outcome agreements under the Concordat.
