This webinar will provide a working overview of the LBTT leases regime. It will look at the basic principles underlying how LBTT on leases is calculated, as well as exploring the transitional issues that can arise when dealing with older SDLT and stamp duty leases over Scottish property. It will also cover three yearly returns and the ongoing compliance regime for LBTT leases. It will also provide practical examples of how these rules apply in real world transactions, and issues that can arise when dealing with property letting structures.

About the presenters:

Isobel d'Inverno is Head of Corporate Tax and is ranked band 1 in both Chambers and Legal 500. She advises on corporate M&A, reconstructions, complex property transactions and funds tax, as well as oil tax. has a lot of experience of tax issues for public sector bodies and local authorities.

Isobel has specialist expertise in Stamp Taxes (LBTT, SDLT and stamp duty) and is a Council member of the Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group and Convenor of the Tax Committee of the Law Society of Scotland.

 

Bob Langridge advises on complex real estate tax matters, including property investment deals, forward funded development structures, student accommodation and property SPV transactions. He regularly advises other firms on property tax issues, including VAT, SDLT and LBTT. He also provides specialist advice on funds and restructuring tax issues.

Bob is a member of the VAT practitioners group, and sits on the committee of the Edinburgh CIOT branch.
