Tell us about your role

I am senior software developer in the innovation & technology team at Brodies, based in Edinburgh. In my role, I focus on building and maintaining reliable IT systems and continually looking for ways to improve how we design and deliver technology. I value clean, maintainable code, thoughtful problem‑solving, and solutions that work well not just in theory, but in real life.

What do you enjoy most about working at Brodies?

What I enjoy most about working at Brodies is the culture of trust and support. There is always encouragement to explore new ideas and build solutions that genuinely make a difference. It’s a place where good engineering practices are valued, and where people are supportive, open, and genuinely invested in doing things well. At Brodies, there’s space to experiment, improve processes, and introduce better ways of working.

What motivates you?

I’m driven by the craft of building thoughtful software. I like understanding how things work, improving them, and leaving systems in a better state than I found them. Continuous learning and the chance to refine how we design and deliver technology are big motivators for me.

Apart from the necessary skills and knowledge, what other quality is essential for the role you perform?

I think an essential quality for this role is adaptability. Technology, requirements and priorities evolve quickly, and being able to adjust, learn, and respond constructively is key to delivering reliable solutions.
