What is it about a career in law that interests you?

I am interested in a career in law as I have a passion for helping others, especially those who may not have easy access to legal advice. I also enjoy developing myself and learning, after speaking to lawyers at Brodies, it is clear that law offers the opportunity to learn every day as new matters come across your desk and challenge your knowledge.

Why did you choose to do a summer placement at Brodies?

I started my legal journey at Brodies when I was in 5th year of high school. The experience at Brodies has stuck with me, even to this day when I am now graduating with my LLB. I wanted to do my summer placement at Brodies as it is important to have a welcoming, supportive environment when you’re learning and trying to obtain a traineeship.

What type of work did you do during your placement?

Collating recent news articles for team meetings, reviewing Head of Terms documents, reviewing disclosures, NDAs and energy agreements as well as cross referencing information. I reached out to lawyer in multiple teams, I took part in banking team meetings, chatted to sports law and real estate lawyers and even had a chat with the firm’s chair, Iain Rutherford.

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed our Law360 meetings and all the additional conversations I had with Brodies colleagues, this educated me on areas of law that I had never heard of and helped me to understand the seats Brodies offers to trainees.
