What do you enjoy most about working at Brodies?
It’s a collaborative, supportive team that openly shares ideas and trusts each other. Everyone brings different strengths, works to high standards, and genuinely wants each other to succeed, which makes Brodies a great place to work.
What is the most interesting project you’ve worked on?
Our big events like the Family Law Conference or private client events have been the most interesting for me. I enjoy the complexity behind the scenes, but it’s the live delivery I’m drawn to. Being in the moment and adapting as things unfold is weirdly where I’m most comfortable.
Careers aren’t linear, and they’re not supposed to be. The most valuable experiences and opportunities often come from the unexpected turns, so stay open and back yourself to take them.

Why did you choose to work in business development?
I was drawn to a role that combines the creative side of marketing and event delivery with the more strategic aspect of building relationships.
Apart from the necessary skills and knowledge, what other quality is essential for the role you perform?
Resilience. Not every idea is a winner, but it’s important to not take negative feedback personally as we’re all working towards the same goal.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy most, and why?
Working closely with our partner team. Everyone has a very clear vision of what they want to achieve and are appreciative of the insight that the BD and marketing team can offer – it makes for a collaborative culture that I think is unique to Brodies.
If your desk could teleport anywhere in the world, where would you work from today, and why?
Cottesloe Beach in Perth, Australia, so I could go for a quick snorkel after work — not something Leyland, Lancashire, quite offers.
If you had to give a TED Talk on something not work related, what would it be?
Put a kilt on it: Why Scotland holds the key to the UK’s Eurovision comeback.
