As a proud Aberdonian I couldnae wait for the tall ships ti mak their wye back tae oor bonny city- ah thon fowk fae far flung places visiting the place we ca "hame". It makes yi think about foo sma the world really is. Mony fowk will bide for the wikend. Some o' them will make the decision tae bide here foriver. Fa can blame them.

As a proud Aberdonain, I couldn't wait for the tall ships make their way back into our beautiful city- all those people from far flung places visiting the place we call "home". It makes you think about how small the world really is. Many people will stay for the weekend. Some of them will make the decision to stay here forever. Who can blame them!

Of course seeing ah them funcy boats will mak some Aberdonians think about biding in other parts of the world- maybe funcying a warmer climate than can be found in the granite city. If they’ve nae bairns then movin awa winna be a difficult jobbie. If they div hae bairns though, that will be a different kettle o fish. If you've a bairn, you canna jist tak them and start galavantin awa fae the United Kingdom unless a'body else fa his parental rights and responsibilities for that bairn gies yi the thumbs up. But fit if the thumbs up disnae come? Well, you will jist hiv to persuade a Sheriff at the court that your proposed flit is a humdinger o a plan and that the bairn's best interests will be served by you getting to tak them and go.

Of course, seeing all those fancy boats will make some Aberdonians think about living in other parts of the world- maybe fancying a warmer climate than can be found in the granite city. If they have no children then moving away won't be a difficult job. If they do have children though, it will be a different kettle of fish. If you have a child, you cannot just uplift them and leave the United Kingdom, unless everybody else who has parental rights and responsibilities for that child consents. But what if the consent is not forthcoming? Well, you will just have to persuade a Sheriff at the court that your proposed relocation is a good idea and that the child's best interests will be served by you getting to take them and go.

These rules are to stop fowk pinchin their bairn and dein a moonlight flit. If yi try that then you'll likely be sent right back to far you came fae so that the Sheriff can decide far the bairn his ti bide. Only then the Sheriff will think you're a bit o' a gype for trying tae leg it and you probably dinna want that!

These rules are to stop people stealing their child and moving in the dead of night. If you try that, you will likely be sent right back to where you came from so that the Sheriff can decide where the child should live. Only then, the Sheriff will likely think you are a bit of an idiot for trying to flee, and you probably don't want that!

Yer best plan is tae tak a wee mintie tae think aboot far you're needing to flit tae and fit why at's the best thing for yer bairn. Then ask their other parent taw say "aye" to yer move. You'll need to explain to them the full plan including fan they wil see their wee quinie or loon and see if you can get the thumbs up. If nae then off tae the court you will need to go The court will wint tae ken exactly far the bairn will be biding, far they will be educatit and a'thing else about the move. So you had better get that thinking cap on and mak sure you’ve gotten a yer ducks in a row afore you ging to the court.

Your best plan is to take a moment to think about where it is you are planning to move to and why that is the best option for your child. Then you should ask the other parent to agree to your proposed move. You will need to explain to them the full plan including when they will see their little girl or boy and see if you can get them to consent. If they will not consent then you will need to petition the court. The court will want to know the type of accommodation the chid will reside in, where they will be educated and everything else about the move. You had better, therefore, make suer that your plan is well thought out before you go to court.
