Having an interest in art and creativity, I studied textile design, specialising in woven textiles. After a few bar jobs after university, I landed a job in fashion, designing menswear and womenswear fabric for fashion houses like Prada and Ted Baker, as well as classic tweeds and tailored fabric for brands like Scabal. I also attended trade shows in Milan and Paris. The textile industry was facing challenges and after being made redundant I moved into retail merchandising, with dreams of being a fashion buyer.
After a few years of commuting to Glasgow and being moved into the company's marketing team, I quit my job and applied for marketing roles in Edinburgh. I started a temporary position at Brodies in the marketing team in 2006, working on designing brochures, helping with events and updating our CRM system. Since I started, the firm has changed a lot - it has grown from 34 partners to over 100! My role has changed a lot over the years as the firm has expanded too. I've worked my way up and now manage a large team, I have been involved in two rebrands, the build of two new websites, developed a number of microsites and the firm's first app. I was responsible for setting up Brodies' social media channels in 2009 and carving out the firm's digital strategy, incorporating blogging, video, social campaigns, SEO and more recently our podcast series.
Having a brand and digital role means that my role is continually changing, so there's always something new to learn - which is one of the many reasons why I really enjoy my job!
