"At Brodies you can expect to work in an environment that is challenging and rewarding. You will gain exposure to quality clients and some of Scotland's leading lawyers. Recruiting, retaining and training the best legal talent is fundamental to the success of our business. We do not seek to hire a 'typical' Brodies lawyer but instead place huge importance on securing people who demonstrate great potential for the future.

We are keen to support people who are enthusiastic about a legal career. We have many opportunities available to help you gain valuable experience from secondary school onwards, from Career Insight Days and PRIME work experience to summer placements and trainee assessments. We look for talented individuals who have a lot to bring to the firm.

Taking time to get to know our people and our business will help you understand the behaviours and traits we look for when we are recruiting."

Wendy has looked after all graduate activities at Brodies for the past five years. She is committed to ensuring that Brodies recruits the best summer students and trainees available. Our summer students and trainees have a proper role to play in our organisation. Wendy ensures that they are fully supported and given every opportunity to reach their full potential at Brodies.

A traineeship at Brodies will provide you with the right skills base to develop your career. It will equip you with the legal expertise and acumen necessary to become a solicitor who can provide the high quality legal service that our clients look for. During your traineeship you will experience work in a minimum of three business areas and you will have the opportunity to work in any of our Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.

We have seats in Litigation, Real Estate, Corporate & Commercial, Banking and Personal & Family. Through these departments you can gain exposure to specialisms such as IP/IT, Construction, Projects, Employment and Family Law. You will also have access to bespoke technology designed to support best legal practice.

Our lawyers and their teams have lots of talent and experience that you can draw upon and learn from, and they are very passionate about what they do. Our teams are always on the look-out for enthusiastic individuals and you will be supported throughout your time in each seat by a dedicated buddy and mentor.

You will be involved in quality work right from the start of your traineeship; from getting involved in a real estate deal to preparing papers for court. We will do our best to keep you busy and you can be assured that there will be little time spent at the photocopier!
